New wine, cheese and charcuterie opens at Botley Mills

1086 launched last weekend at Botley Mills and is already making waves with the locals. 

They’re loving the handpicked selection of wines from near and far, particularly those produced at nearby Wickham Estate Vineyard.

Whether you’re a connoisseur or a casual wine enthusiast, you’ll find the perfect drink to complement a charcuterie and cheese board, crafted using the finest ingredients sourced from local suppliers whenever possible. There are also cocktails and desserts on offer.

1086 comes from the team behind neighbouring restaurant , the atmospheric eatery with original features including a waterfall, historic mill artefacts and themed toilets which has proved a massive hit on TripAdvisor.

For their new venture, they’ve teamed up with members of the family who have owned Botley Mills, the of a Hampshire milling company which now also provides retail units for more than 40 local businesses, since 1923.

The venue, which can host 50 people inside and out, is now open from 11am to 11pm Tuesday to Sunday.

, from 1086, told the Daily Echo: “There’s nothing else like it around here. There are other offerings of course but in terms of something similar you’d have to travel to Porters in town, Renoufs in Lyndhurst or Woodies at Netley Abbey.

“It’s a really simple concept. You don’t need a full-blown kitchen, so we’ve just created a nice space and got on with it. 

“All the feedback so far is that everybody loves it. It’s somewhere that offers a different proposition to the norm. There seems to be a real buzz about it already.”
