Lactalis opens public cheese store in Nampa, ID

For years, the old Factory in was famous for its factory store. Paired with a classic cafe with dairy products front and center, generations of Idahoans would stop by the factory that once stood alone in a field near for lunch, a field trip, or a bag of squeaky .

The store and cafe closed after French dairy giant Lactalis purchased from the JR Simplot Co. in 1999.

But… DO call it a comeback.

Last summer, we reported on Lactallis American Group’s new shop inside that same plant along Franklin Blvd. The new shop was for employees only – part of a $1.2 million investment in upgrades for workers.

Now, the small cheese store will be open to the public, too.
