Hoveton: Fizz and Fromage launches Christmas Dinner Fondue

It’s a marriage made in heaven between two Christmas classics: Après ski fondue and a traditional festive turkey dinner.

Fizz and Fromage restaurant in Hoveton near Wroxham will be serving up big bubbling pots of fondue served with cubes of turkey, pigs in blankets, Maris Piper roast potatoes, butter-roasted sprouts and chunks of sourdough bread for dunking.

Served as part of a new Christmas menu which begins on December 1 until Christmas Eve from Tuesdays to Saturdays, the fondue is made from a special blend of four-year aged Gouda, Comte and Emmenthal.

Other tasty options to choose from on the Christmas menu, which costs £23.95 for two courses and £29.50 for three, include starters of Gin and Bramble Cured Salmon, Cobble Lane Coppa Ham with Cropwell Bishop Shropshire Blue or a Goat’s Scone and desserts of spiced clementine cake with dark chocolate sauce, tiramisu or a board.

And if you’re more ‘fon-don’t’ than fondue, you can choose from two other options for your main course including Bungay’s Baron Bigod and leek tartiflette and confit duck eg with buttered sprouting broccoli, Christmas plum and cinnamon jam.

You can even gild the lily with the famous Festive Fizz Tree, 12 glasses of Prosecco, Flint Rose, Champagne or Westwell Pelegrim perched on their own Christmas tree, at prices starting at £50.

Fizz and Fromage chef Pete Chapman said the idea for the festive fondue had come after discussion with restaurant owner Tim Ridley.

“Fondue is one of the biggest sellers on our menu and so when it came to Christmas, we couldn’t resist the idea of offering a traditional dinner with a big difference,” he said.

“People have loved the idea! We serve fondue all year round, but there’s something really special about getting together with the people you love at Christmas and sharing .”
