Wine, chocolate and cheese? Yes please! Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries to host Chocolate & Cheese events
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays might just be a little bit cheesier in Niagara-on-the-Lake this February.
Chocolate & Cheese events will be taking place each weekend at 20 different wineries.
Madison Vine, board chair of Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, said the event used to be known as Days of Wine & Chocolate and it used the name Days of Wine, Chocolate & Cheese last year.
“We switched it to say the words chocolate and cheese just because chocolate could be a little polarizing in the sense that not everyone has that sweet tooth,” said Vine, adding “cheese makes sense with wine.”
She noted they had to tweak the program over the last couple years to keep everything safe.
This year, Vine said “we switched things up to better reflect our previous passport programs.”
Brianne Hawley, marketing manager at Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, said guests can choose from an individual pass or a couple’s pass.
The individual pass comes with 16 tastings per person and costs $75, plus tax and service fee. The couple’s pass comes with 16 tastings per couple and costs $75, plus tax and service fee.
“These passes give you access to all properties with a maximum of eight winery tastings in one day. In other words, both passes are for a maximum of 16 tastings,” said Hawley. “If you want to taste at all 20 properties, you can add extra tastings to your passes.”
To maintain capacity control and minimize crowds and wait times, people may visit a maximum of eight wineries for tastings in one day.
Hawley explained a couple’s tasting at eight wineries in one day would use one couple’s pass completely. An individual would need at least two days to visit all wineries.
“But whether individual or couple, you can also spread your visits out over the four, three-day weekends and just visit two or three wineries at a time,” she added.
Reservations will close at 6 a.m. the day before the event begins. Tastings will be available from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
