Use a Lemon To Clean a Cheese Grater in Seconds

There are few things I hate cleaning more than my cheese . I’m a big fan of cheese and include it in almost every meal. A cheese is a real time saver, but I dread the moment I have to clean it. Thankfully, this simple hack has changed my life — and it could change yours, too.

I truly believe a cheese is one of the greatest everyday inventions, and I don’t want to find excuses not to use mine. That’s why I quickly became obsessed with a cleaning hack from TikTok user Carolina Mccauley, whose page is full of helpful tips. She has videos on deodorize your couch, make her “Magic Dust Remover,” and all the kinds of ways you can use vinegar for cleaning.

But the one that caught my eye is a short video where she uses half a lemon to clean a cheese grater. Genius! Instead of tearing up my sponge, and risking cutting myself with the sharp blade, using a lemon solved all of those problems. And it leaves the grater smelling so fresh. Check it out for yourself in her video below.

To use this hack, simply cut a lemon in half and add dish soap to the cut side. Make sure there’s enough dish soap to cover your grater but not so much that it spills everywhere. All you have to do next is scrub, scrub, scrub! The pulp and rind of the fruit will get the dish soap into all the nooks and crannies without a ton of effort on your part. The acidity of the lemon also helps cut through tough smudges, making it the perfect cleaning buddy.

Once you’re done, rinse out your grater. That’s it — it’s really that easy. And lemon isn’t the only fruit that can help you scrub messes away. Check out this hack for using a grapefruit to clean your shower.

Now you know clean a cheese grater with almost no effort!
