The String Cheese Incident Rotates Bass Players On Night One In Aspen

The String Incident kicked off a three-night run at Belly Up in Aspen, CO Tuesday night. The band welcomed three special guest bass players—Mike Devol of Greensky Bluegrass, of , and of SCI tribute band Cream Accident—who filled in for SCI bassist , who was forced to have emergency surgery to repair a damaged retina the day before the show.

Mike Devol held down bass duties at the start of the show and remained on stage for the first half of set one, sitting in on a sequence of “High On A Mountain Top” > “Wheel Hoss” and then “Stay Through” > “Restless Wind”. then stepped up to the plate for the rest of set one, which included “MLT”, “Hey Pocky A-Way”, and “Can’t Wait Another Day”. He later returned for the second half of set two after played bass for the first half. Highlights of the set included several extended jams and covers of Led Zeppelin‘s “Ramble On” and Talking Heads‘ “Crosseyed & Painless”. Mike Devol also made one last return to the stage during the encore, “Rivertrance”.

“We’re missing you up here in Aspen, Moose! But the low end is in good hands with Mike Devol, Paul McDaniel, and !” The String Incident wrote in a social media post after the show.
