The String Cheese Incident are in the midst of a run of shows at Asheville, NC’s Salvage Station. On Thursday, the Colorado-bred jamband nodded to their local surroundings by busting out ’s “Trail of Tears” for the first time since their July 29, 2004 appearance at the Uptown Theatre in , MO. The tune, which appears on Rowan’s 1988 album with the New Rising, opens with the lyrics, “In the great Smoky Mountains in / That’s where I have rambled for many long years/In the great smoky mountains in / I’ve followed the trail of tears…ooo..”

The ensemble also nodded to their surroundings in on April 28. While performing at the Riviera , the group played with a bit of hometown heroes Umphrey’s McGee’s anthem “In the Kitchen” during a jam out of ” Got What He Wanted.”

String Cheese will conclude their Asheville run tonight.
