Sam Hendren, “The Cheese Man”, has died at 71

Jan 05, 2023 — An early pioneer in the local food and farm movement in the Adirondacks has died.

Sam Hendren owned Clover Mead Farm in the Champlain Valley and ran the organic dairy and cheesemaking operation for 20 years. According to his obituary, he also started the Saranac Lake farmers market and was known as “The Cheese Man”.
Hendren owned and operated several other businesses in the Tri-Lakes area, including Moon Tree Design in Lake Placid, which he owned with his wife, Denise, for 30 years.
Hendren had been living in Tuscon, Arizona. He died at the hospital there on December 24, 2022. He was 71 years old.
