“A part of the gift of cooking for people is the possibility you could screw it up,” said Mary-Margaret Sabatier, taking a pan of golden red roasted tomatoes from her oven, “but, the thing to remember is that your guests are pulling for you.”
She was right. The small group of us she had spontaneously gathered for lunch were all looking forward to her roasted tomato basil soup and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches.
“I could easily have picked up a prepared soup, but I enjoy putting love into my cooking,” Sabatier said with a smile as she moved around her well-laid-out kitchen.
Mary-Margaret Sabatier has passed along her love of cooking and entertaining to her four children who each, upon moving away from home, received a hand-written collection of recipes, including roasted tomato basil soup, one of the family favorites.
She put love into the table setting as well, elevating our soup and sandwich lunch to an occasion with fresh flowers and an eclectic collection of dishware beautifully arranged on the table.
