Mac-n-Cheese Bowl returning March 25 to Cohoes

COHOES — After a successful transition from an indoor event to a street festival that attracted several thousand people to a blocked-off Remsen Street nine months ago, the timesunion.com/Table Hopping Mac-n- Bowl will return to the Spindle City on March 25.

Held in February or March starting in 2010, the event was moved outdoors as an effort to refresh a fundraiser for the Regional Bank of Northeastern New York that has brought in an estimated $450,000 since its inception. Launched by the bank after a suggestion by a reader of the Table Hopping blog on timesunion.com, the Mac-n- Bowl took place in an athletic facility at Siena College in Loudonville from 2014 to 2019. Canceled by the pandemic shutdown days before it was to have been held in 2020 and conducted in a takeout format in 2021, the event was considered a major success after the move to Cohoes, according to city and bank officials.

Tickets will go on sale in early January. One ticket covers sampling from every tasting station offering different takes on macaroni and . The space available on Remsen Street will allow for 35 or more tasting stations, with regular tickets priced at $35. Children’s admission will include tickets for 10 samples, and VIP tickets, covering samples from approximately 10 participating breweries will be available for $55. Early-bird tickets with a $5 discount will be offered when sales first begin. The hours on March 25 will be 11 p.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees will vote online for their favorite tasting station, judges will award a prize, and and a competition among home cooks is being considered for a return as well.
