The sale of the cheesemaker and cheesemonger to family run producer Carron Lodge was completed on 22 December.

The deal includes the trading premises, as well as tangible assets and branding including the famous Grandma Singletons .

Singleton’s had been handcrafting award-winning cheeses in the UK for more than 80 years.

In August last year, the family run company went into administration, and Kroll’s Andrew Knowles and Steven Muncaster were appointed as joint administrators.

Buyer Carron Lodge is a dairy farmer, producer and wholesaler, based at Park Head Farm.

Carron Lodge produces over 50 varieties of cheese, and recently won Super Gold at the World Cheese Awards for its Inglewhite Buffalo.

Over 2,500 wholesale products are available for next day delivery across the UK, and while the core focus is cheese, Carron Lodge also stocks a range of charcuterie, olives and other fine foods.

Andrew Knowles, Senior Director, Kroll said: “Singleton’s and many of its brands have a well-established reputation for quality products both locally and abroad.

“With the completion of this deal, we’re pleased that this long-standing tradition will continue into the future.”
