Katy Twisted Grilled Cheese restaurant opens with full bar

A Katy restaurant has taken the timeless favorite of grilled and brought it front and center on the menu. Twisted Grilled offers more than 10 different takes on the classic sandwich and will soon offer a full bar in a family-friendly environment.

The Katy eatery opened last year, but the restaurant will debut the expansion and full bar in early February, Twisted Grilled owner said.

While Twisted Grilled Cheese also offers other items like chicken tenders, salads, wraps and classic sides, grilled cheese is the focus of the menu. The grilled cheese options include Philly cheesesteak, brisket, pizza, lobster and more. Entrees start at $8.99.

The eatery began as a popular in the Galleria area, Willrich said. Prior to opening in 2019, she had no experience in the .

“We decided we wanted to start a because we like to eat in general, but we had no ,” she said. “We just decided we wanted to take a simple concept and make it the best possible way.”

Willrich settled on a grilled cheese concept restaurant.

“You can just do so much with grilled cheese, and it really gave us a chance to get creative with recipes,” she said. “We also take a lot of suggestions from our customers on what they want to see on the menu, because sometimes they have really great ideas we didn’t even think of.”

The was an immediate success, Willrich said, which caused her to start thinking about opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant.

The first brick-and-mortar location opened on Washington Avenue during COVID-19. While most restaurants floundered during the pandemic, Twisted Grilled Cheese was able to transition from truck to restaurant seamlessly in the challenging environment.
