Wisconsin loves its cheese in any form – hot and gooey fried curds, cave-aged European blends, or classic sliceable offerings like Cheddar, Colby, and Swiss. There are also some awesome Wisconsin cheese festivals celebrating this fine food – but one takes things to another level. The Art of Cheese Festival is Wisconsin’s cheesiest event, and it’s wonderful. It offers a chance to celebrate and sample the very best cheese in America’s best cheesemaking state. Here’s why you need to put this event on the calendar.
Wisconsin has long been the heart of cheese country, and while a lot has changed in the state, cheese is still king here. If Wisconsin was a country, it would be ranked fourth in the world in cheese production, behind only the rest of the United States. Germany, and France.
We don’t just make a lot of cheese here – we make a lot of kinds of cheese. Wisconsin cheese producers make over 600 varieties, types, and styles of cheese.
This bounty will take center stage at the Art of Cheese Festival. It includes a full weekend of events in and around Madison, including fun and free events, and special exclusive opportunities for people who take their cheese very seriously.
The festival has experiences and tours with behind-the-scenes access to creameries and dairy farms, a Bubbles and Cheese Brunch, and a Cheese Fair Off the Square. There’s even cheese yoga. What a pairing!
Attendees can enjoy interactive classes on everything from cheese pairing to crafting and learning the art of affinage (cheese maturing), and a chance to meet and dine with award-winning master cheesemakers.
